El ibis eremita "Dixit" volando entre chovas piquirrojas y grajillas.

Estos días, se están volviendo a observar ibis eremitas
(Geronticus eremita) en Albacete. Los ejemplares proceden del proyecto Waldrappteam, de Austria, del que ya hablé el
año pasado cuando tuve la suerte de observar un ejemplar de esta rara ave en verano a las afueras de la ciudad de Albacete. Ayer, 3 de junio, volví a tener esa suerte. El ejemplar que vi se llama Dixit, que nació en 2024 en el zoo Rosegg. Lo vi junto a un bando de grajillas occidentales
(Coloeus monedula) y chovas piquirrojas
(Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax), pero no entendí si las estaba persiguiendo o si simplemente coincidieron en la corriente térmica.

“Dixit” in Latin means “He said it” and I wonder if there is significance in the name. The mere thought of seeing this iconic bird circulating in the air with Red-billed Choughs and European Jackdaws sets my heart aflutter. Some days a rare privilege is gained simply by turning one’s gaze skywards. Let’s all hope that this is one species we have yanked back from the brink of extinction. Best wishes, my friend. David
