Ayer, al aparcar el coche, encontré una polilla en la puerta del garaje. Al verla, supe que pertenecía a la familia Crambidae. Indagando en iNaturalist, la he asignado al género Eudonia. Hay más de 200 especies descritas en este género, así que no me atrevo a identificarla a un nivel inferior al de género. Sus larvas se alimentan de musgo y líquenes.

Sometimes we all have to be content with narrowing down an organism to the generic level and leave the specific identification to experts in the field. As you know sometimes inspection under a microscope, or dissection is needed to clinch the species. Un abrazo desde Ontario.
ResponderEliminarYes, it's something I have had to learn and to live with, the specific identification is not always an easy task. It surprised me that this little moth was out and about in midwinter though!
